When you're faced with someone who is deep in grief, you can feel unsure of what to do or say, or how best to offer support. But with the right tools and guidance, it's possible to make a real difference.

At Grief Guides, we empower individuals, communities and workplaces to provide compassionate, effective grief support. Whether your role involves interacting with the bereaved on a regular basis, or you want to contribute towards a more grief-informed culture in your organisation, we’re here to guide you how to provide comfort, understanding, and support during life’s most challenging moments.

Three elements make up the Grief Map solution: engaging live training sessions, expertly crafted self-learning content and resources, and our innovative paper-based Grief Map.

Training & products tailored to workforce & client needs

Suitable for each organisation's needs

Our initial grief map has been designed to be both comprehensive and suitable for most needs, but there are some industries and charities that will require a slightly different, enhanced focus. In collaboration we are developing a range of maps to meet these needs. If you would like to discuss how this works, please call Martin.

Delivered sensitively, keeping trainees psychologically safe.

Topics surrounding death, grief & loss can be challenging to talk about, but we have experience in how to create a safe training environment where learners can thrive, whether that is in our live sessions, or in the self-learning content and the community that will develop there.

Relatable and transferable knowledge.

The insights you will get in this training will be helpful across your life, from work to community to family. Grief is a part of the human condition, but when we learn how to adapt and grow around our grief, the less life complications we encounter.

What do our students say...

It was an amazing session with so much thought-provoking information. It has certainly given me a deeper understanding of grief. You are both very inspiring and your knowledge exceptional… to have that practical information and guidance was amazing.
Adult Social Care & Health Team, Derbyshire County Council
Thank you for these two sessions, they were so informative, and something I am sure we will all be using in our client work going forwards. Trudie’s delivery was first class, I am a qualified counsellor, but I learnt so much. The content was very thought provoking.
Pathway Counselling Service
The session really was fantastic, I wasn’t too sure what to expect and I’m so happy I decided to join, it was really helpful and thought provoking and fantastically delivered. It’s always so valuable and appreciated learning from someone so knowledgeable and with lived experience.

What does grief cost?

It has a significant financial impact - if you track grief absenteeism, presenteeism, reduced productivity, increased staff turnover, you will know this.  If you do not track grief, then as the saying goes, "you don't know what you don't know".

Grieving is a healthy, natural and essential process, that can be accepted and embraced, or resisted and stifled, when it can become complicated and prolonged.

None of us will escape grief, but our healthy adaptation and return to being a productive member of our family, community and workplace depends upon our ability to grow and adapt around our grief.

Grief Guides is an innovative, affordable and scaleable solution

Due to the flexible modular components of Grief Guides, we are able to ripple the knowledge and skills right to the edge of your workplace and deep into the community.

The map
is a tool to build upon, refer to and use as a guide throughout your supportive conversations, giving you confidence and insights to share.

The self-learning
modules will continually grow and evolve, remaining accessible and contemporary.

The trainer-led
sessions will be conducted at flexible times, to meet your needs and schedule, providing an opportunity to connect and ask questions.

This compliments, rather than competes with, existing support structures

The ability to empower people on the frontline of your organisation means that the knowledge is not limited to a few core people, it is equally distributed. This means that support, if offered in a timely and personable way, by someone you know will make an incredible difference to the healing process.

Your clients, service users and customers will all benefit, from a grief aware workforce.

Your organisation will most likely have a bereavement policy, maybe a supportive strategy for grief, including in-house counsellors and an EAP service.

EAP structures are a powerful tool, but one that has become increasingly recognised as being used by less than 3% of the workforce.

Become A Grief Guide with Grief Maps

Each Grief Map comes with a foundational self-learning module, preparing you in depth to understand and know how to use the Map. Once completed you can apply to join the 90-minute trainer led sessions, which will be held frequently throughout the month on Teams. This is where we will embed your self-learning and build upon that foundational knowledge. The course resources will be constantly updated and evolve to meet our clients needs.

Our intention is for this to be a process of learning and building your understanding and skillset, rather than a one-off training session. Grief is never 'one and done', neither are we. Using this modular approach will ensure that information integrity is maintained for every course, keeping the delivery high quality. Consistency and innovation will keep the knowledge contemporary and relevant.

Courses included in

The Grief Map Bundle

The most cost effective and comprehensive way to become a Grief Guide is to buy a bundle, even for one Grief Map. You will get your copy of a Grief Map, access to the full Grief Map self-learning course, the live trainer-led classroom session, and access to all the extra modules that will build on your learning even more deeply.

Standalone Self-learn Modules

Some of these modules are included in the Grief Guide bundle, but they can also be purchased individually. They include self-care, communication skills, and other focused subjects. As we bring new modules online, they will appear here.

We are also able to collaborate with your organisation to create modules to meet your organisation's particular needs.

Live Trainer-Led Classroom Sessions

Join one of our live trainer-led sessions, to build upon the knowledge you will gain from the self-learning modules. Our classroom size is limited, to allow interaction and sensitive management of the subject matter.

We can also able to collaborate with your organisation to create sessions to meet your unique needs.
